His profession? One that demands precision, high standards, and a sharp eye for detail! Govinda Naidoo, Manager - Land Surveying, tells us more about his role and gives us a glimpse into his daily life at Novaterra.

Hello Govinda! Tell us about your professional journey.

I am a land surveyor with significant experience in the fields of land measurement, boundary demarcation, and mapping. Over the years, I have developed strong technical expertise, combined with great rigor and a constant attention to accuracy in carrying out topographic surveys.
After specialised training in surveying and geomatics, I worked first as an apprentice and then as a surveyor at the Ministry of Lands. This experience gave me the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects. For example, the calculation and definition of a projection system for Mauritius, known as LGM2012, compatible with GNSS receivers; as well as conducting topographic surveys for construction projects and carrying out surveys related to water networks and hydraulic management.

When I joined Novaterra, I was able to bring my experience to large-scale, innovative, and transformative projects such as the development of Beau Plan and the future Balaclava project. Developing a territory is above all about carefully planning space. I am proud to contribute to projects of this scale.

Tell us about your role at Novaterra.

In my role, I am mainly responsible for carrying out precise topographic surveys, analysing and processing data collected in the field, and actively contributing to project planning and implementation.

I am involved at different stages of operations, from data collection to verification and analysis. My work also involves producing reliable plans and technical documents that serve as the foundation for strategic and operational decision-making. Finally, I work closely with technical teams as well as with the various stakeholders involved in projects, including engineers, architects, and urban planners.

What are the most rewarding aspects of your job? And its challenges?

What I enjoy most is the opportunity to contribute in a tangible way to the transformation and development of land. Watching a project evolve – from an empty site to its final completion – is both satisfying and motivating.

Of course, it is not always an easy profession. Field working conditions can sometimes be challenging, and the level of precision expected in every task leaves no room for error. Despite this, I find the work stimulating, educational, and truly rewarding from a professional perspective.

What is everyday life at Novaterra like?

At Novaterra, there is a strong culture of collaboration and exchange between teams. This encourages the development of effective and sustainable solutions while fostering innovative, structured projects focused on sustainable territorial development. I appreciate not only the quality of our work environment, but also the work itself and the innovative vision guiding the development of this region. Finally, our working environment in Beau Plan is a real advantage: in addition to being at the heart of the city, which makes everyday life easier, our offices are elegant and surrounded by nature. It is inspiring and makes daily life truly enjoyable!
