And for good reason: his role as Operations Manager is as exciting as it is demanding. Let’s meet him.
Hello Ratnesh! Can you tell us what your job involves?
I supervise all the behind-the-scenes work that goes on to ensure visitors to Mahogany Shopping Promenade enjoy their visit and feel welcome when they arrive. This mainly covers security, cleaning, and maintenance of the premises and common areas. In other words, I spend a lot of time on the phone with each service provider, writing numerous emails, and managing a lot of Excel spreadsheets!
What does a typical day look like for you at Novaterra?
What’s great about this job is that no two days are the same. Each day brings new challenges, experiences, and opportunities for great encounters. However, there is one constant: a daily walk through Mahogany, either alone or with service providers, to ensure everything runs smoothly and that the operations of the center are well-managed.
What do you like most about your job?
I really enjoy working with numbers, and that’s a good thing because I’m surrounded by them! That’s what makes the work so exciting. I also love the human interactions. Constantly being in touch with our tenants, visitors, and suppliers is a pleasure. It allows me to ensure a high-quality experience for our users. And when we occasionally receive complaints or criticism, I see it as an opportunity to better meet expectations and to exceed them, enhancing the experience and enjoyment of our visitors.
What skills are necessary for this job?
I would say you need a lot of energy, but also a good dose of positivity every day. It’s a demanding job that requires tapping into your resources to handle unexpected situations or difficulties. You also need to enjoy interacting with others because relationships are at the core of the role. Finally, being meticulous is a true asset to avoid mistakes and ensure the job is done properly.
