Hello Stephanie! Can you tell us what your job entails?

The role of an accountant involves analyzing, collecting, compiling, and evaluating financial data. I also prepare a variety of reports and financial statements, ranging from daily cash flow statements to annual financial reports. My responsibilities extend to designing and implementing work systems, as well as forecasting and budgeting. As an administrator and “super user” of our accounting software, I ensure that the system runs efficiently for all users. I also manage a team, making sure everything runs smoothly. Lastly, as a certified accountant, continuous professional development through ongoing training is a key aspect of my job.

What does a typical day look like for you at Novaterra?

We operate based on a well-structured schedule. Payments for services and purchases need to be validated, entries in our accounting software must be approved, ongoing tasks of our colleagues are monitored, and when necessary, we contact our tenants. It’s a detailed and busy job, but the atmosphere at Novaterra makes it enjoyable.

What do you like most and least about your job?

I love the diversity of tasks and the fact that we manage a portfolio of several companies, which makes the work more dynamic. In my profession, I’m always interested in new opportunities that arise, helping me avoid monotony. There’s so much to explore in this field! As for the less pleasant aspect, it would have to be contacting clients to remind them of overdue payments—never a fun task!

What skills are essential for this profession?

Several skills are required, including a keen attention to detail, strong evaluation and auditing abilities, proficiency in working with accounting tools, and solid interpersonal skills for collaborating with others.

Thank you, Stephanie, for giving us a glimpse into your world!
